Calaway Park

We live in Calgary, where the weather can change at the drop of a hat and the summer is NOT that long, so when we get the opportunity to have a day out with great weather we seize it!

Not long ago, we decided to check out Calaway Park. We hadn't been in a while because it is very expensive for a family to have a day out anywhere, and with my kids being so little I wasn't sure it was worth the money - boy was I mistaken!

Parking: was a NIGHTMARE - but that is to be expected on one of the first nice weekends of the year! It's much more easily navigated than the Stampede. I drove around for approximately 20 minutes looking for a spot before finding one almost at the very back of the lot. The kids and I don't mind walking.

Lineups: were not that bad - the worst was the roller coaster which only B (8) could ride. Aside from the hour we spent in the lineup for the roller coaster, the lineups were not longer than 15 minutes. The rides that the kids could go on were limited, but there was still a great selection of them.

Food: The only thing that we purchased was a drink ($$$) and a bag of cotton candy (which fed the 3 kids and was pretty large for the money). However - you can take your own food and drinks so that is a huge money saver. We ended up doing a picnic lunch with some sandwiches and granola bars. There are water fountains around the park to fill up water bottles, as well.

I would recommend Calaway Park over the Stampede EVERY time when it comes to rides/games. The lineups are shorter, it is less expensive, parking is better, all in all, it is just more bang for your buck, and my kids had MORE fun than the Stampede because they actually got to ride everything they wanted!

Website: Calaway Park
Admission: $41.95 per person - but that includes everything in the park except the games. Season Passes are a much better deal if you purchase them prior to the season beginning!
Accessibility: Yes

I hope this helped and enjoy your summer!

Let me know in the comments some things that your family does that are inexpensive but fun! Summer or Winter ideas!
